What classes and grade level(s) do you teach?

Middle School Language Arts, 6th grade Bible, and 7th grade writing

What do you love most about Grace Christian School?

I love the fun dynamics of the student-body and fellow staff members.

Why do you like teaching at Grace Christian School?

I like teaching at this school because of the freedom that teachers have to design the curriculum in a way that will help prepare our students better for high school and college.

What is a unique experience, talent, or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

As I'm sure my students will attest, I am a bit of a character. Also, I am more passionate than most people about grammar and literature, which can be contagious for my students, turning them into little literary, grammatical nerds (but don't tell them that; I like to let them think they are cool for enjoying sentence diagramming and Shakespeare).

How does “Faith and Learning Connect” in your role at Grace Christian School?

I love being able to discuss literature with a Biblical perspective. With every novel we read, we talk about how the messages of the work reflect and/or reject Biblical principles, and then we discuss the implications for us as Christians.

What sets Grace Christian School students apart from other students?

Most of these kids actually like to read! When we are between reading novels, they are constantly asking when we will start our new one, and they are so excited when we actually do. That is such a rarity among children these days and one of the things I love most about my students at GCS.
